Documents Required for Cargo Transport
It is obligatory for companies and persons to carry out commercial cargo transportation to obtain different authorization documents. If transportation is to be carried out with a truck or pickup truck, it is necessary to have a K authorization certificate. Although there are three different types of K documents required for commercial cargo and goods transportation, the authorization type of each document, that is, its usage areas, is different from each other. If we classify the K authorization documents, they are as follows with their usage areas:

» K1 Certificate:

The K1 certificate is an authorization document that must be carried by vehicles and persons engaged in commercial domestic cargo transportation. Companies, vehicles and individuals carrying cargo to earn income must carry a K1 certificate. If there are products of a different company in the transported vehicle, it is possible if this situation is legal and if any inspection is made, it is stated that the cargo transport is done for the purpose of making money commercially. If the K1 authorization certificate is not kept or for any reason cannot be shown at the time of the inspection, a penalty is applied. Firms with K1 authorization certificate have the right to carry a maximum of 75 tons of cargo, but if the person carrying the K1 certificate is not a company but a person, the load carrying capacity is reduced to a maximum of 25 tons.

» K2 Certificate:

The K2 document is an authorization document that taxpayers must carry in case the cargo transportation is carried out by truck or pickup truck without commercial use. The private use of trucks or the fact that they have tax plates are not enough for them to transport without a K2 certificate. Except for trucks and pickup trucks, only minibuses do not have to have this authorization document, the only requirement is that the vehicle license includes a minibus. Persons carrying cargo with an undocumented vehicle are penalized, such as the absence of a K1 document.

» K3 Certificate:

The K3 document is an authorization document that must be kept in case of transporting goods for commercial purposes. While only home and office goods are included in the transportation of goods, it is not possible for people with K3 certificate to carry any cargo other than these goods. Those who want to obtain this document must have a minimum of two commercially registered vehicles for the purpose of transporting goods, and their weight must be a maximum of 35 tons in total.

How to Obtain Documents Required for Freight Transportation?
Persons or companies are required to have the necessary authorization document for the type of transportation they will carry out, such as commercial or goods transportation. Those who will apply for K1, K2 and K3 authorization certificates should first go to the General Directorate of the Ministry of Transport. There are various documents required from people when applying for K documents. These documents;

1. SRC certificate (It can also be obtained as a result of exams from the Ministry of Transport)
2. The psychotechnical report of the persons who will apply for the K-type certificate of authorization by passing the necessary exams in which certain abilities are tested.
